Revision and Rhetorical Appeals

As a student, I know that it is important to avoid grammatical or spelling mistakes, get rid of plagiarism and write top-notch essays. I have come a long way from when I began writing my essays in high school. No doubt, I have learned various things until now, and I think that a lot more is still needed to be learned. I believe that it is important to pay attention to many things while writing an essay or paper, such as ethos, logos, and pathos. Previously, I used to write my papers as such with no attention paid on ethos, pathos, and logos. However, things have now been changed. These days, I focus on all of these things while writing something.
Ethos is usually used to describe the perception of the target audience. The audience may ask questions like “what does this person know about the topic” “how he or she is going to provide credibility” “and “why should I trust this individual.” On the other hand, pathos is used to describe a writer or student’s attempt to appeal to the target audience’s sense of identity, their emotions, and self-respect. Similarly, the use of logos is often regarded as a logical appeal. A sentence or statement is not considered logical if an appeal is not present. In simple words, I can say that a writer or student uses logos to persuade the target audience.
I am now able to use all of these things to convince my target audience to read the text from the start till its end, as I know how to determine what the audience is actually looking for. I try to provide as many resources and examples as possible in order to attract the attention of the target audience. I use arguments of different types and give plenty of examples from real-life and history in order to prove my arguments to be true. At the same time, I take logical aspects into account and try to persuade the audience by solid or valid reasons.
The use of these classical rhetorical appeals has helped me improve my writing and enhance the quality of papers by the whole. It was not easy for me to understand all of these things, but when I started practicing every day, I got to know how to grab the reader’s attention and persuade them to read more of my work and to join my opinion or argument of the essay. In the end, I’d like to say that the use of ethos, logos, and pathos can make the writing and revision process easier, faster and better because these classical rhetorical appeals help understand what the reader is actually looking to read and how to come up with persuasive or convincing content.
