As an HR manager, it is my responsibility to
provide all employees with a peaceful and sustainable working environment. If a
female employee is given tough times by a male coworker, then I will first call
her to my office and discuss everything, followed by taking action against the
male worker.
Me:
Hello Maria, nice to meet you. How are you?
Maria:
I am good, thanks for asking.
Me:
I have heard that Mr. Richard is creating a mess for you within the office and has
been asking you to date him.
Maria:
You are right sir; I am worried as I have already said “no” to him, but I do
not know why he has been chasing me all the time. I am planning to resign
tomorrow.
Me:
Do not worry; I will speak to him, and you need not to resign. Please continue
working as usual.
Then I will call Mr. Richard to my office to
ask him to amend his ways, or else, I will have to fire him right away.
Me:
Mr. Richard, you have been with us for five years now, and as far as I know,
you are married with three children.
Richard:
Yes sir, what happened? Why did you call me to your office?
Me:
I have received a complained about your misbehavior with female workers. I do
not want to tell the name of the female, but please be careful with how you
deal with them.
Richard:
I am so sorry sir; I know the name of the female who has said all this to you.
Please accept my apologies; you will never receive such a complaint.
Me:
Thanks for your time.
I strongly believe that sexual harassment at
a workplace is a form of discrimination (Howell, 2017), and in my company, I
will never let such unwanted things happen.
