Best 5 Legends about Motor Oil

When it comes to motor oil, we do not pay much attention to the fact that without it our car can never run. We hear wildly contradictory information about engine oil, and wonder which types we should use and how often to change the motor oil. There are a couple of oil myths, legends and lies. Out of them, here we briefly describe best 5 legends about motor oil.
1. Changing oil every 3,000 miles or after 3 months — whichever will come first
We often hear our elders saying that changing the motor oil every 3000 miles or after 3 months is mandatory. In fact, it is nothing more than the trick of oil change industry and dealership service department. They want you to change the motor oil regularly so that they can earn sufficient for their services. Experts say that the oil in today’s vehicles should not be changed so early as it is usually mentioned.
2. Changing oil before a long road trip
Are you planning a long trip? If it is so then the motor mechanic may suggest you to change the oil before the long trip. The fact is it is not essential to schedule oil change interval until or unless your car shows some problem during driving. As the matter of caution, you can have quick service work so that the performance of the car can be checked.
3. Cars need service under the "severe" maintenance schedule
It is one of the legends about motor oil. The myth is cars need service under the ‘severe’ maintenance schedule and this has been the creation of oil-change industry representatives. According to experts, ‘severe’ situations are when your car looks like a heavy trailer when you drive it. Otherwise there is no need to believe this myth.
4. For new car owners, there should be oil removal at 3,000 miles for getting rid of metal particles in the engine
The automotive experts are of view that oil of new vehicles should be changed at the first 3,000 miles of driving. However a spokesman of a popular car brand has claimed that the new cars do not require special oil formulation because all their parts are new, genuine.
5. Synthetic oil is better
Some people believe that synthetic oil is better for the cars because it can improve the economy of fuel. The testing of a popular American car brand’s experts shows that synthetic oil is a high quality lubricant that can add extra mileage to the engine’s performance. According to Blackstone's Stark, the synthetic oil boosts fuel economy to much extent.  I cannot say for sure whether we should believe this myth or not but mostly people do change their car oils, allowing the engines to spin easily.
Besides the above, there are many legends that could be mentioned here. These are widely applicable to vehicles of all car brands. We cannot claim if a legend from the list above is tru or not!
